My sister is vacationing in Hawaii this week. She has talked about going to Hawaii since she was little.
I think these flowers are sort of Hawaiian.

Creative Heart Monday - Dogwood Branches
Happy Creative Heart Monday!!
Today, we are using our Gel Press™ prints again to make pretty pink petals for dogwood flowers. I have a dogwood tree in my yard. Unfortunately, it blooms intermittantly. We planted some bushes in front of it that block the sun and it's too big to move at this point. So, I'm going to pretend (in this project) that this is what my flowers look like.
I used some acrylic paint and stencils for the background. Then, made two Gel Press™ prints for my petals. To make the prints, I used pink and white paint, a circle stencil, and a rubber trivet that I purchased at the Dollar Store.
Here we go.............
List of Supplies
8" X 8" canvas panel
Americana Craft Paints - Bahama Blue, Blue Peacock, Chiffon Blue, Titanium White, Carbon Black, Pink

Creative Heart Monday - Two Videos This Time!!
Happy Monday to all of you Creative Hearts!!
This week, things are a little different. Last week was, extremely, busy for me and I never got around to making a "real" Creative Heart Monday project.
So....I'm trying to make up for it by including 2 videos. The first one is a video of a project that I made for the Gel Press Blog a couple of months ago. The post was a "step-by-step" with photos. I filmed the project, but did not include the video in the post.......so here it is.......
Check out the "step-by-step" post on the Gel Press Blog for supplies.
Now for Number Two
I've been taking an online class by Donna Downey - Abstract Florals. I just love her abstract flower paintings, and would love to be able to create lovely abstract pieces. Over the past couple of years, I have taken several of her shorter, online, classes, and have always been very pleased. I, finally, couldn't stand it anymore and signed up for the Abstract Florals course. I have not been disappointed. She includes so many videos. She does each painting "start-to-finish" and she is very easy to listen to. I have taken many, many online classes by other artists....most I like....there have been one or two that I ended up disappointed (but it's all personal preference)....I'm sure that others were able to get more out of them than me.
Anyway.....here's my first attempt at a painting from the course. It's wack. I think that when I have the video camera on, I tend to rush thru things (which is kind of ridiculous because I can always hi-speed in editing). I'm going to be working on my flowers and backgrounds this week. As I go, I'll put some pix on my blog and Facebook, so that we can see if I'm getting any better.
List of Supplies
8" X 10" canvas
Liquitex White Gesso
Liquitex Basics - Deep Purple Hue, Magenta Light Hue, Cadmium Orange Hue, Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow
Golden Heavy Body Acrylics - Green Gold, Quinacridone Magenta, Red Iron Oxide, Hansa Yellow, Teal
Miscellaneous Brushes
Have a great Monday and a wonderful week.

I used to Zentangle A LOT!! I love the meditative process of the "Tangles". I don't know why I stopped doing it. This project has gotten me excited about incorporating Zentangle into my Gel Press™ projects. (which you all know that I have a hard time getting through any project without adding a Gel Press™ printed paper in it somewhere).
For this project, using my 8"X 10" Gel Press™ Plate and Americana Paints, I made a plain "Bahama Blue" print, then using Citron Green, and covering part of it with ripped cardstock, I made a second pull..........
then I did it again, using Titanium White...............
and again with some Burnt Sienna
Outlined the sections and started Zentangling with a black pen.
Cut a heart out of black cardstock and stamped "hope" on a ripped bookpage.
Adhered everything with Decou-Page and put it in a little, matted frame.
Quick, easy, and "Zenful"!!
Now, hop on over to see more Zen projects from our, very talented, Creative Design Team!!
PEACE!
