Creative Heart Monday - The Elephant

Happy Creative Heart Monday!!!!

and Happy 4th of July!!

Today, we have a mixed media piece, using a double canvas, Gel Press prints, and an Elephant Stencil.

My friend picks up canvases for me at thrift stores.  This one is really two canvases attached.  It was one of those printed canvases that you see at Kirklands, TJ Maxx, Target, etc.  I like to get used canvases and gesso over them....which is what I did here.

About a year ago, I discovered Diane Salter on Pinterest.  She is fantastic.  I thought I would try something kind of Diane Salter-esqe.  You will see that mine turns out kind of "wak", but, hey, they can't all be winners.

Here we go................

List of Supplies

Black Gesso
DecouPage
Gel Press prints
DecoMedia Fluid Acrylics - Cobalt Teal Hue, Titan Buff, Raw Umber
DecoArt - Titanium White, Chiffon Blue, Sea Glass
Faber-Castell Pitt Pen - Black
Faber-Castell Big Brush Marker- Black
Black Oil Pastel

I mentioned in the video that I would explain the "elephant" a little better.  However, I forgot to take some "still" shots.  Anyway, this is what I did.

I used an elephant mask from StencilGirl, traced around in on a piece of paper, made a, reduced, copy on cardstock, so that it would fit the canvas.  I drew lines, dividing up the elephant, cut them out and number them.  Then, using the cut up pieces at stencils, I cut the shapes out of Gel Press prints (and numbered them on the back).  This made it easier to piece the elephant together on the canvas.  I hope that this makes sense.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Go to the Gel Press Junkie page on Facebook page and share your Gel Press creations! "LIKE" our product page for the latest news on All Things Gel Press!

I used to Zentangle A LOT!!  I love the meditative process of the "Tangles".  I don't know why I stopped doing it. This project has gotten me excited about incorporating Zentangle into my Gel Press™ projects. (which you all know that I have a hard time getting through any project without adding a Gel Press™ printed paper in it somewhere).

For this project, using my 8"X 10" Gel Press™ Plate and Americana Paints, I made a plain "Bahama Blue" print, then using Citron Green, and covering part of it with ripped cardstock, I made a second pull..........

then I did it again, using Titanium White...............

and again with some Burnt Sienna

Outlined the sections and started Zentangling with a black pen.

Cut a heart out of black cardstock and stamped "hope" on a ripped bookpage.

Adhered everything with Decou-Page and put it in a little, matted frame.

Creative Heart Monday - Shapes in Sienna and Green

Happy Monday to all of you Creative Hearts!

Today, I'm changing it up a little bit.....no flowers, no circles (OK maybe a few), and different colors....for me.

I did a post/video for Gel Press last week.  It was all squares and circles that ended up looking like stained glass......so, of course, I called it "Stained Glass".  If you haven't seen it....check it out!  That piece put me in a "geometic mood".

The only materials used were my Gel Press prints, Decou-Page, and a black charcoal pencil.

So,,,,here we go.......
