Creative Heart Monday - Gel Press Prints and Hot Glue Mirror

Happy Monday to all of you Creative Hearts!!

I'm still into the hot glue gun.....can't seem to put it down.  Today, I'm "beautifying" the frame of a mirror.  I just love the way the hot glue, Gel Press prints, and dark paint come together to create such a "rich" look.

Framed mirror from craft store (I purchased mine at Michaels)
Americana Acrylic Craft Paint
8" X 10" Gel Press Plate
Plain white copy paper
Foamies Foam Stamps
Dollar Store dart board for texture
Decou-Page Matte
Black Liquitex Gesso
Inka Gold Metallic Paste - Copper and Green
Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paint - Carbon Black and Brown

Updated Mirrors

I've been spending a lot of time lately, looking around for things that I can make better.

I found two square mirrors.  They were just kind of blah.  I thought if they were blue, they could add a pretty pop of color in a bedroom or bath.  This is what I did:

1.  Sanded the frames.
2.  Covered the mirror with newspaper and blue "painters" tape. I also covered the gold trim around each
     mirror because I wanted to keep that gold.
3.  Primed the surface with grey, acrylic primer.
4.  After primer was completely dry, sprayed a light coat of Krylon Ocean Blue acrylic paint.  Tip:  When
     spraying, keep the can moving from side to side to prevent runs.
5.  Painted 2 more coats of blue, making sure that paint was completely dry in between coats.
6.  Sprayed one coat of Krylon clear acrylic gloss.
7.  Carefully, removed tape and newspaper.
8.  Ta Dah!

Consignment Store Shopping Day!

My good friend is in town and when she's here we always hit Goodwill, yard sales, consignment stores, etc.  We started out this morning at an estate sale.  After digging thru china cabinets, shelves, tables, and cabinets all filled with Hummel's, I did find some little crocheted doilies that I plan to dye and use to make some lovely cards.

Next stop - Goodwill.  I found a picture frame that I plan to paint and turn into a jewelry holder, and a mirror, that I also plan to paint, and use in my bathroom. 








Then to Sandy's Consignment Shop where I found 2 chairs that I plan to paint and reupholster.  I have been looking for some cute chairs that I could paint white and cover with the perfect blue and yellow fabric to put in my bedroom.  The photo only shows one chair, but there are two.



Now my friend lives in St. Thomas and travels all over the world, but she buys her clothes at Goodwill and yard sales.  She finds the cutest, designer, things.  Today she found lots of pretty tops and a pair of leather, thigh high, boots.  I never find clothes at Goodwill.  I really try but I never find anything.  She tells her tales of Ann Taylor pants and Bebe Tops with the tags still on and I swear, all I see are faded t-shirts.

But, it was a fun day and I have several projects that I plan to work on.
